Apart from festive reasons, many users of the X Window System do also create individual themes of their favourite actors, films and musicians. These themes can be designed by using pictures and photos of their idols. In other systems such as Microsoft Windows or Apple MacOS it also proves to be possible to customize one’s screen or desktop by means of different theme packs. These themes can often be downloaded from free sources or designed individually by specific theme managers such as Stardock.com or AlienGUIs.
Concluding it has to be mentioned that the latest version of Microsoft Windows, strictly speaking Windows 7, provides a complex feature which is designed to manage and customize the whole system. An example therefore is the usage of changing background images and themes – a method which is also provided by self-running picture galleries. This means that users do have the possibility to choose a predefined number of pictures which appear on the screen in specific time lags.
